WC3Banlist Windows Vista Installation for Dummies

I started WC3, i can use hotkeys, but can't use ping etc. Banlist do not see WC3 traffic at all.
Using PPoE connection. No firewall even native microsoft. In XP no problems with banlist.


PS. API hooking ok.


OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Professional (Build 6000)
WinPCap Version: 4.0.0.755
WinPCap is running properly.
Warcraft 3 found.
WC3Banlist Version: 3.1 beta

Some TCP packets have been received but no WC3 traffic.
Make sure you have started WC3 and logged on the battle.net before running diagnostics.

I dont get it. I done all precisely what must be done to install WC3Banlist to vista. I first install winpcap, then banlist, apply beta patch to banlist. After that I give admin rights to banlist, but still nothing. I have tried with api and with gdi. With firewall on and off.

PrinceCorwin, when you join or host the game and if you go and see banlist, can you see players names in warcraft III snooping screen?

Because my problem is that it shows that I have joined or created the game, but it wont show any players names.

I did some more testing. This is network diagnostics without beta patch.

Packet capturing should be working fine.
You have selected WinPCap for joining prevention packet generation.
This will cause problems because WinPCap's packet generation doesn't work on PPPoE connections.

As you can see incoming and outgoing packets are fine. So firewall cannot be the reason.



when I type /fromall or /pingall it says that no-one there to determine origin even I have created the game. In that picture it should show at least
my name in playerslist.

Prince, I am guessing you have a router? If so, try connecting without the router and just use your modem and see if it works then. That can rule out that it is the router in any way.

Mikaq, snooping list is clear. No player information at all. =(

Senkin, as i said i have no firewall installed. Windows firewall disabled too. May be banlist don't work with Vista&PPoE ?

Added: ha! I tryed 3.0 version and everything gone as it have to.
So I think beta have problems with Vista.

Well I dont have router. I play in Eurobattle, but that shouldn't affect to banlist because it worked alright in XP in Eurobattle.

AMD Opteron 165
Epox 9NPA+ (Nforce 4 chipset)
MSI x1950xtx 512mb
2 gb memory

Perhaps it is problem with my hardware and banlist, because everyone knows that all drivers to Vista isnt in their best shape.

Senkin, a don't have router, just ADSL modem and PPoE connection with static IP.
I installed wincap4 then banlist 3.0 with default settings and it works pretty good,but i didn't tested it for long.

It says DirectX-API hook for WC3Banlist installed successfully but when i join a game or create the snooping box does not come out and i cant ping or loc. =(

Prince + Mikaq try posting your own threads asking for help cause I don't think Knarf checks this all that often and I do not know what to have you try. You guys can try the Beta Banlist to see if that helps.

Lunyurng: Can you post your network Diagnostics like Prince and Mikaq did?

any thoughts on how to fix this problem.

internet explorer 7 will consistently crash when opened on vista when banlist has been opened and is running. And it immediately goes back to full functionality when banlist is closed. Any ideas? If not i can live with it. Just figured since I am still new to the full spectrum of privilege issues on vista I might pass the question along. appreciate it.

I do not know why it crashes for you. I have Beta 202 and it works fine for me. I just tried right now too.
