Its a great hosting tool, but I'm leery of turning off my firewall at any time when I'm on the internet. I've posted a topic on Kaspersky's forums, and will get back to you on the progress of that.

I'm also leery of turning off my firewall as long as there is any connection whatsoever to the cable modem ;)

Thanks! 8)

The problem is if a malicious program is running on your computer without you knowing, such as a trojan or spyware. Can never be sure these days ;)

I may have found an answer on my own; Kaspersky was damned clueless. However, I found an option under Firewall Settings -> Rules for Packet Filtering -> Check the "Localhost loopback TCP activity" and "Localhost loopback UDP activity" options. I haven't tried this yet (to tired to at the moment), but I've found that autorefreshers use that particular IP address. Maybe its coincidental, but I hope this works.

LoopBack sounds like bingo to me.

Ugh... that didn't even work. It was suggested that I download their latest version (Kaspersky 2009), but for now, I'm going to wait for their feedback. Kaspersky is overprotective -.-'

I just turned the firewall down to the option "Allow All," instead of disabling it, but I don't think theres a difference.

Here is what I was told to do, if you don't have Kaspersky 2009:

1.) Uninstall Kaspersky using this tool : http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208279752
2.) Restart your computer
3.) Install Kaspersky 2009 (if you have an existing subscription, click express install, and use the activation key included on the cd packet) from here: http://dnl-eu2.kaspersky-labs.com/devbu ... .357en.exe
4.) Restart your computer again...
5.) Allow Kaspersky to install updates
6.) Restart your computer again (if it asks to, after installing updates)
7.) Presto, Kaspersky 2009 automatically detects program settings, but if it still doesn't work, go into Settings-> System Security-> Firewall Settings-> Application tab, and drag/drop the programs into the "Trusted" category manually. You may want to create a group for just Warcraft 3 programs, to keep this tab organized if you have a bunch of programs that you run.

Thanks for your help and all the info. I installed KIS 2009 and added everything WC3 related to Trusted. Sure enough, auto refresh works...

..but... I hate KIS 2009 -.-

It really bothers me that it would automatically add applications to wherever it pleases giving them pre-set rules without asking me first, even in interactive mode.

I wish I knew which one of those hundred thousand rules from KIS 2009 that I need to set in KIS 7 to fix this problem. Ooooh well. Thanks again 8)

That sorta bothered me too... I'll look into it. 7.0 had more protection options, but 2009 has more ease of use... there's gotta be some kind of balance. If anything, you can just move what programs you don't like under the Settings-> System Security-> Application Filtering-> Applications menu to High Restricted... I think it checks average applications though, and tries to stop anything suspicious.

Well, apart from setting them as soon as they run, in interactive mode (either flat out denying or simply limiting them), theres not much you can do. However, it does check against a list of evil and mundane programs, with any suspicious behavior, and you can limit them from there.

I agree with you and I must say that Kaspersky is the best security protection program I have ever used. It is easy to use and to install and the latest version which you were talking about has a lot of advantages, offering protection from a number of threats, including viruses, Trojans, bots, worms, and even spyware. I suggest everyone should use the new version, 7.0 which you can find right here: http://www.trustdownload.com/Antivirus- ... y-7.0.html.
