Migrating to the latest banlist version can be done the safest way like that:
- install it clean into a new directory
- copy the following files to the new destination
- autokick.dat - your settings for autokick
- blacklist.dat - your local database
- colors.dat - the color substitution strings
- comments.dat - your custom comments settings
- phrases.dat - your phrases settings
- pinfo.dat - the last seen table of the first tab
- realms.dat - list of known realms
- serverlists.dat - your server lists settings
- wc3banlist.ini - miscellaneous settings
Current styles for the messages that come with WC3Banlist:
- WC3
- WC3 alternate
- Borderline Compact
- Stealthbot
- Debug (shows debug messages for packet decoding)
Some information on working with the new version
The new local database is automatically converted from the old format of blacklist.dat into an XML file named localdb.xml. This XML file should be backed up from time to time. Because even if you restore all your bans and infos from banlist.nl, you will have lost your scores and games. The blacklist.dat file is not used in 3.0. You can delete it after it has been converted. Or keep it. Or whatever.
There are still some issues with the latest version, that I know of:
- screenshots sometimes are taken while the image is being rendered
- Submitting of scores is not possible yet.
- Displaying of scores inside the game and a command for posting them in the chat.
- DX API hook still doesn't work when X-Fire or Fraps are running simultaneously.
- If the host leaves and you become the new host, WC3Banlist doesn't recognize this and won't work as expected (no leaver alerts and so on).
- the setting for autoclose wc3 on detecting a leaver during countdown is not saved
Version 3.0 is a preview of the new global rating system that will be present in Version 3.1 (expected to be released Summer 2006). So there are still changes possible to the scoring system. If you feel you need to contribute something to the discussion about it, use the related thread in this forum please. Do not post in the goodlist forum, since the goodlist will remain as it is, in case of swearbear and fearbear come back to work on it.
Known bugs:
- /checkall and /checkchannel show if someone is safelisted, even when the related checkbox isn't checked
- name spoofers cause the program to raise an exception when the game is over (temporary solution: kick name spoofers)
- sometimes the slot table is wrong if a game has been full and after that, someone has been kicked out of the game when another player has joined simultaneously
- if wc3banlist is started after the game has begun, the creation of an entry in the game table fails on finishing that game and the error "'' is not an Integer value" comes up
